McLaren cars have been represented in the Scalextric range for nearly 40 years from the M4A of 1969 through M9A, M23 (James Hunt) and then through the highly successful MP4 line from the 1990’s to now with the introduction to the Scalextric range of the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes race car driven by World Champion Fernando Alonso and sensational newcomer, Lewis Hamilton. As at July 2007, with the British Grand Prix having just been run, McLaren lead the constructor’s points table and their drivers, Hamilton and Alonso, lead the driver’s championship. After 9 races, Hamilton has not missed a place on the podium and has two F1 wins to his name. A truly remarkable record for a rookie driver in his first year of F1.

The first ever slot car release of this livery and with exclusive packaging rights to show the driver images means that this Scalextric slot car carries a big advantage over any competitor. Particular attention was made to the special chrome finish on the body which was approved by McLaren.
